Shaming Women

"Sandra is being forced by Florida state law to buy advertisements that give her full name (which I'm not repeating) and physical description: 5 feet 2 inches, 142 pounds, brown eyes. Then, as the law requires, she has to list and describe the five men she had sex with late last summer: Bill, Tommy, Allen, Eric and Joshua."

This is so fucking disgusting. The U.S. might as well must declare war on women. I'm appalled and shocked that this is actually happening in this country and there isn't any noise being made about it.

It used to be that you could expect the Supreme Court to overturn decisions made by the inbred lower courts; but no more.

Fuck Jeb Bush. Fuck his brother. And fuck the Supreme Court for playing part in the coup that put him in power.

Allow me to share

this link https://www.epitonic.com

I just found it this week and I am astounded at what it has to offer; streaming and downloading an impressive catalogue of artists, styles, genres.

My newfound interest in downloading and then burning to cd is, as the skaters say, STOKED, and at such time when I will be downloading faster than 56k, there will be no stopping the awesome compilations! If y'all know of any similar sites, please post!

PS:
Currently I'm looking for mp3s by COIL. Their great website @ brainwashed has samples but, unless i'm mistaken, no complete tracks. Any idears?

They're Back!!!!!!!!

The students are back on campus, and thus my idyllic, quiet summer is over.

No more can I spend countless hours musing on these pages about crappy goth and industrial bands, weirdo horror and paganism, buddhism, or other prurient interests.

Gone are the hazy, lazy summertime dreams of mp3 burning, thrift store shopping, and constant monitoring of half.com. In this stead are the hours now spent contacting frat boys, fresh out of night-jail, but yet to have their first college class, summoning them for their very first judicial hearing with the Dean. Look for them, in the very near future, as captains of white-collar industry, as their corperations leave the US for manufacturing interests in Taiwan and Mexico; see them excel as Senators, Presidents, and sportscasters, their trophy wives- and mistresses- forever at their sides.

The ice age is coming, the sun is zooming in

Because I watch a lot of TV, I've noticed that the Clash are being used in commercials for Jaguar ("London Calling") and Stoli Vodka ("Should I Stay or Should I Go").

https://www.songtitle.info/latest.htm

I'm sure the Clash no longer own their publishing and probably didn't personally approve of the ads (or make money from it). I don't begrudge anyone of selling a song to a commerical (the Buttholes sold a song to Nintendo), still it's just very strange to associate the Clash with luxury automobiles.

Then again, our age group is now old enough to hold senior positions in ad companies and can raid their high school memories for their corporate accounts (and gulp, we're probably the target age for luxury sports cars too). I've heard the Buzzcocks for Mitsubishi and last night I heard Blondie for some other car company. Just the Clash for Jaguar is particularly weird, methinks.

08/06/02: Butthole Surfers to finally release CD of old ep's

A lot of people have contacted us over the years asking why we don't release the 2 Butthole Surfers eps from 1983 and 1984 on CD. Well, we
never got permission from the band to do so. But many of you should be pleased to learn that:

The Butthole Surfers plan on reissuing their two Alternative Tentacles EPs the self-titled 12-inch Brown Reason to Live, and Live PCPPEP,
along with a couple bonus tracks on their own label Latino Buggerveil. Hopefully we can carry them in our mailorder.

does AT have to sound so snide all the time?!

M. Night Shyamalan vs. The People in The Theater

I saw Signs last night. I've never left a movie so angry. I wanted to physically hurt the director. I still can't put my hatred into words. I felt insulted that a previously good director (...and i even liked Unbreakable) would ask me for $9.50 so he could preach to me. The supposed plot of the movie is completely ridiculously dispensed with in the most abysmally insulting manner once he's got all the pieces in place for his religious soapbox.

It's like watching Davey and Goliath as a kid and thinking it's pretty good only to find out at the end that it was a church commercial. Except that Davey and Goliath usually had pretty solid plots.

IMDB's review sums it up pretty good.

"'Signs' is really not the movie portrayed in the trailer. The sci-fi story you came to see -- dealing with extraterrestrials and crop circles -- is merely a subplot to the internal, spiritual strife suffered by Hess (Gibson). Sci-fi is simply a colorful wrapper used to conceal the movie's true focus: a ponderous message about human spirituality."

...and there you have the basis for what i think might be the first class-action lawsuit against a movie. I was TRICKED into seeing this movie.

I think you all need to go see this so we can talk about it, please.

And yet, a ray of hope

Davey and Goliath are returning to TV. I hope they give them a rad 21st century update and hip new clothes.

Maybe Davey's parents will be divorced and his dad will have to schedule their father-son campouts weeks ahead of time because that shrew won't ease the fuck up. A man can't even go have a drink without risking his visitation rights.

Or maybe Davey's parents will have to have a talk with him about why it's not okay to call girls "bitches and hoes", even though Red Man and Method Man did, and who the hell took you to see "How High", anyway? I'll bet it was that jackass Erleman from down the street.

What new adventures would you like to see Davey and Goliath have?

Call it what you will, but I'm starting a list, in no particular order, of what I'm tired as HELL of seeing, listening to, being around. Join me, won't you?

1) White boys with dreadlocks (In particular, white boys with dreads hopping out of their fairly new cars and hanging out and asking me for spare change. Note: I discovered that they do not find donations of bars of soap as funny as I do).
