The Upcoming Orgy of Grief and Self-Congratulation

posted by McFrozen on September 5, 2002

I think I’m going to impose a media blackout on myself next Wednesday. Hell, I might start on Sunday. Katie’s been talking about trying a week without TV. Maybe next week would be a good one. Is anyone else dreading it?

I'm so f*ing dreading it. They've already started the replay of the Greatest Show that Ever Lived, although Canadian John tells me the networks have all decided NOT to show the impact of the plane anymore- out of deference for the people who ded and their families I guess- but the endless loop of falling bldgs has already begun on some channels.

as if that wasnt hard enough to watch for another full week, the whole Renewal of Our National Wedding Vows to George W Bush will be quite sickening. I guess when they were planning this thing, the proximity to voting day in 2004 was keenly in mind

I've been out of the news loop this whole week (in Chicago on bidness) and I've relished every ignorant moment. I vow to stay on a strict diet of Sopranos DVD rewatches and reading of 'Royal Family'. BTW, thanks for the recommend, Dave L, that's one hell of a great book! The cover alone kept all my bubbly coworkers from sitting next to me on the plane, and a few of them stayed uncomfortable for the whole trip!

Nope, no celebrating tv ratings on the 11th for me.

Royal Family: took that one with me to visit the in-laws.
