R.I.P.
Although I have no childhood memories of watching Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, I used to put him on when I would babysit my nephew back in '86, and I was always amazed by how Mike (nephew in question) would stop what he was doing and be completely captivated by him, and how the show actually taught kids instead of just entertaining them. Quite a rare gift.

Happy Birthday Johnny Cash
Check out his latest video, and take a solemn knee. I wonder how much longer we'll have the pleasure of his company...

Pinball
Hey Hoyt,
What was the name of that pinball machine we used to play at the Dog & Duck? The one with the big head and the construction theme?

Dastardly marketing
In which the Cattlemen’s Beef Board and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association try to get teenage girls eating beef again and outwit the satirists by beating them to the punch.

Petersen Automotive Museum Exhibit
https://www.TheElementsCar.com/Misc/Petersen/
Some interesting photos of some very cool art cars. Makes me sad in a way that I'm not entering the Houston Art Car parade this year. The ol' Bug just has too many miles on it for me to trust it that distance, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna sissy out and trailer it...

Colonialism
"It is a very happy result of history that half of these surviving fragments of these sculptures are in London."
Sorry for the unfunny entry, but this kinda thing pisses me off. What if, through a "happy result of history," Brittian's crown jewels ended up in Greece's possession? Do you think they would have the same attititude?

Title Transfer
Hey Motor Vehicle owners,
I need help transfering a title. It's for the scooter. I got a title that's been signed over to me. I need to send it to the DMV. Do I send the top part, the bottom part or both? The DMV website was no help. Do I send a check? Help. Confused.

I couldn't decide on a caption:
"Ron's about to see if the carpet matches the drapes"
or
"Speaking of carrot vaginas!"

Hey Kilty,
don't be tryin to tell ME that you didn't go see Daredevil on opening day, I'm not THAT stupid!
so how was it? How was Bland Affleck, a DDisaster? Who is the character that Jennifer Garner plays, is that character in the 'books, or did they just make her up to sex up the movie? Do you care much either way that they changed Kingpin's race?
So, do you forsee in the not too distant future that the Daredevil franchise and the Spiderman franchise might join forces for a block-buster-buster movie?
And did you plunk down for the new X-Men "1.5" dvd with an inexplicable 5 HOURS of "bonus material"?! I'm sure you did since Halle Berry can be seen in it!
Does Stan Lee get paid offa any of these marvel pics or did he sell out his rights of ownership a long time ago, and now he's resting on all his Howard the Duck moolah?

Our new threat-o-meter
If you look over in the right-hand side bar, you'll see that we are now up-to-date with the Department of Homeland Security. I didn't care for their images, so I made some friendlier ones.
Just follow the alert bee!
VISITORS: If you would like to include this in your own page, you can download the PHP script (43k). I adapted it from an existing PHP-Nuke block.
If you make your own images let us know so we can all share the happy fun terror alert joy!

Terrorism Alert part 2
Tom Ridge also took the opportunity to announce the new "Courtney Love Nipp-Alert Program."
Said Tom, "If you are an airline passenger, or at a punk-rock funeral, you will be able to determine Ms. Love's level of attention neediness by the color of her nipples. They will range from green (riding a good high) to red (my god i haven't been in the news in a week!) to black (sleeeeeeepppyyy....). All citizens within a half mile radius are encouraged to find cover if the nipples turn candy-orange."

Tom Ridge
The Department of Homeland Security is considering raising the national threat level from yellow to orange today. Is there any chance we could have the threat-o-meter imbedded into the Geriatic Punks homepage? It would save me a lot of trouble in deciding how to dress myself in the morning.

James Lileks on the new WTC designs
If the original WTC consisted of two hands banging out an obvious C chord, this is the visual equivalent of dropping a cat on the keyboards.

Search engine joy
So if somebody uses Alta Vista's image search function and uses just the keyword "ferret", our site is the first one the comes up (because of all these).
That's all cool and everything, but the best part is the particular image that shows up on their search results page. Have a look.
