pbs did a frontline or something on this girl who was bound into a potty seat in a windowless room and never spoken to until she was rescued at 10 or some damn thing. then she was snatched by one ambitious researcher after another trying to publish papers proving their pet points. the whole thing was one of the most gruesome and depressing stories i've ever heard.

but then again, maybe she was like a fish, happy in her potty chair with no meaningful human contact, and society was just cruel to tear her out of her lovely dark pool, but kind in continuing to keep her life murky and cold.
